Vodafone announces key CWW appointments

A series of new staff appointments have been confirmed by Vodafone Group, designed to help with the integration of Cable & Wireless Worldwide (CWW) into the firm's operations.

The appointments have been made in light of the operator's acquisition of CWW, which was rubber stamped last Friday.

Vodafone Global Enterprise boss Nick Jeffery has been appointed as the new chief executive of CWW.

His role will begin with immediate effect, with Jeffrey set to play a part in the leadership teams of both Vodafone UK and the group's northern and central European operations.

Jan Geldmacher, Vodafone Germany's existing Enterprise Business Unit director, will succeed Jeffrey in his current role.

Among its other announcements, Vodafone confirmed that Diego Galli, the existing chief financial officer of Vodafone Turkey, will take up the position of CWW finance director.

The role of technology director will be filled by Vodafone Group's Network Services Unit director John Thompson.

Finally, the group said Francesco Bianco, Vodafone Netherlands HR director, will now serve as CWW's HR director, while its new integration director will be Mark Allison, the current Vodafone Global Enterprise Commercial team leader.

As a result of the new appointments, CWW's present chief executive, Gavin Darby, will leave the business in October.
