New Alcatel-Lucent CEO Ben Verwaayen to Keynote at IEC’s Broadband World Forum Europe 2008 in Brussels
The International Engineering Consortium will premiere Mr. Ben Verwaayen, the newly appointed chief executive officer of Alcatel-Lucent, as one of its keynoters at the upcoming Broadband World Forum Europe 2008. Mr. Verwaayen joins other World Forum keynoters, including Mr. Didier Bellens, president and chief executive officer of Belgacom; Mr. John McMahon, president and managing director of Europe for Sony Pictures Television International; Mr. Carl-Henric Svanberg, president and chief executive officer of Ericsson; and Mr. Julio Linares Lopez, chief operating officer of Telefonica S.A."Mr. Verwaayen and his remarkable experience are held in very high regard, and the opportunity to learn of his industry vision as CEO of one of the largest communications solutions providers in the world will certainly complement our world-class programming well," commented IEC President John Janowiak. "We're delighted to provide this platform to Mr. Verwaayen."
"The industry recognizes the Broadband World Forum Europe as one of the most significant events in the global telecommunications calendar," added Mr. Verwaayen. "I have attended this show in previous years enjoying the networking with a high caliber of attendees and participants throughout and was pleased to accept a keynote presentation at this year's event."
Mr. Verwaayen continued, "The telecom industry has undergone significant changes in recent years, and technology, user behavior and business strategies are evolving at great speed; this show is a superb forum for engaging with companies at the very forefront."
Mr. Verwaayen's keynote address will take place at 15:00 on opening day - 29 September 2008.
It serves as one of the Broadband World Forum Europe's 50 educational sessions, which will be presented by more than 250 of the world's best industry experts.
