Three UK is kicking off a new partnership with Deezer by offering customers a free subscription to the music streaming service.

From today, Three customers on pay monthly, PAYG and SIM-only deals will receive a six-month subscription to Deezer Premium+. The promotion forms part of a wider long-term partnership between Three and Deezer that will see the companies launch further initiatives together in 2016.

Additionally, Android devices sold by Three will come pre-installed with the Deezer app from November this year.

According to Three, the operator has been eyeing up potential partners in the digital services market for some time. It said it had selected Deezer after reviewing a similar initiative between the company and Three Sweden, which had seen strong results.

Tom Malleschitz, Chief Marketing Director at Three UK, said: “We know our customers love streaming content, especially music. This combined with Deezer’s approach to innovation and doing things differently really attracted our attention above the competition.

“Deezer’s impressive catalogue of music from around the world and high quality audio streams complements the service that we offer.”

Deezer, which has also partnered with Orange and Finnish telco DNA, currently has more than six million subscribers across 180 countries.

Christian Harris, MD of Deezer UK & Ireland, said: “We are thrilled to provide Three customers the best of music and talk, with the largest music library in the world and over 40,000 podcasts, live football and radio shows.

“Three is a natural partner for Deezer, not only do they account for 42 percent of all the UK’s mobile data traffic but they are constantly innovating to move the industry forward.”
